All about buildings

Buildings are any structure with walls, a roof and is more or less permanently fixed in one place. It is constructed for enclosing people, animals, cattle or other movable property. As it is a structure that doesn't move it does not includes any type of mobile homes, utility or recreational vehicle, boat or tent. Building may be as plain as one roof with walls providing shelter from the elements or it can be complex as skyscraper regulating temperature, air flow, gas content, light control bacteria, pressure, while holding 1000's of persons. A building can be built for anything needed from a home to office complex, hospital or a shopping mall. The use, design, construction and engineering of buildings is as old as mankind. Earlier buildings were constructed out of logs or mud but today builders design huge buildings with the help of other engineers who have studied in this trade. There are many sorts of building materials, techniques and designs available for constructing a building. A building can be built with any type of material and in any way. Design and building techniques that are used in construction are:

Geodesic Domes

A geodesic dome is a global structure and is built on a series of struts arranged on circles sitting on the top of a sphere. A geodesic domes design incorporates interconnected triangles. These triangles distribute the weight and provide support to create strong building. They are also friendly to the environment. In all the building design geodesic domes are the most efficient way to enclose an area with the least amount of material.

Insulated Concrete Forms building

These buildings are constructed with hollow foam blocks filled with concrete. These blocks are used to lay the foundation of a building. The blocks are bound together using C-shaped interlocking pins. When the blocks are in place and connected together they are reinforced with steel rods. Once this is completed the construction workers will then fill the hollow spaces in the blocks with concrete.
Electrical lines and plumbing pipes are hidden inside grooves cut into the foam walls. After all this has been completed the walls are covered with a finish of brick, plaster, drywall, stucco or siding.

Modular Building

This kind of building is fabricated in a factory in controlled conditions. Large sections of walls and roofs are constructed and then moved to the site and fixed on a permanent foundation. These buildings differ from mobile homes as they are attached to a permanent foundation and are impossible to be moved like mobile homes. As they are fabricated inside a factory they save time and can be set up without delays.

Structural Insulated Panels Building

This type of building is built using sheets of foam Insulation, inserted between strand board or any other type of wood. What makes SIPs unique is they don't have a frame.
The foam sheets are very strong and can be used for walls, roofs and even floors.

Steel Framing in Building

Instead of a wood-framed building, recycled steel beams can also be used to make a building. It gives good protection to the building from dampness, hurricanes, earthquakes and tornadoes.
